My Approach
I adopt a compassionate, non-judgmental and holistic approach to therapy.

I have experience in a wide range of modalities, but I am trained in psychodynamic therapy which means that I aim to fully understand the various factors impacting you. As part of this, we will form a strong foundation for our relationship to grow.

This approach is proven to deliver lasting benefits, rather than a simple band-aid or single-modality solution. Every person has unique requirements, and I believe it is essential to ask the right questions in order to tailor-make the therapy in a way that will best support you.
I adopt a variety of theoretical frameworks to deliver my services, some of which include:

The Gottman Method

The Gottman method is "an approach to couples therapy that includes a thorough assessment of the couple’s relationship, and integrates research-based interventions based on the Sound Relationship House Theory". It is really effective at identifying destructive conflict styles and upskilling couples to approach conflict with a strength based approach that is based on enhancing understanding and connection within your relationship.
My approach draws strongly from my training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy which is a structured and evidence-based approach to helping couples strengthen their relationship and overcome challenges.

EMDR

EMDR (eye movement desentisation and reprocessing) is "a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories".

This is a deeper approach than simple talk therapy, and is suitable for more complex issues. It can also be useful for clients that are stuck in unhelpful belief systems from the past that they are unable to break free from, and that are negatively impacting on their lives.

EMDR has been proven to be a highly effective method of treating a variety of issues, such as treating PTSD, supporting individuals who have endured intimate partner violence, or even in the psychological treatment of cancer survivors.

When other modalities of therapy have failed, EMDR can be a vital approach in the treatment of eating disorders, addiction, adolescent, individual and couples therapy. I am certified in EMDR and we can explore how it might help you.
